Although Mr Caba was not born in Canada, he epitomized what it means to
be a good Canadian, he served honourable in his new country’s time of
need. He joined the Essex Scottish regiment in Windsor, and served in
the northwest European campaign(1944-1945)from France, all the way into
Germany. He also served in the postwar occupation forces in Germany.
While serving there he contacted TB and had to be sent back to England.
While in England, Mr Caba was trained as a signaler.
His
main job being to help run the communications network of his battalion.
He was mainly a radio operator behind the lines in the motor platoon. He
did not see much combat action, but he performed an essential role by
helping to keep all elements of his battalion aware of what each other
were doing and to coordinate their actions
